8 Incredible Thread Painting Embroidery Patterns

Thread painting is a form of embroidery that uses the long and short stitch to blend colors together in a way that emulates traditional painting methods. It has a distinct, realistic look with smoothly blended colors. While this style of embroidery can look daunting at times, it usually only uses the long and short stitch along with a few basic stitches. If you’ve never tried it before, check out my tutorial that goes over the basics of thread painting.

In order to complete the thread painting embroidery patterns featured in this post, it is helpful to have a bit of embroidery experience, but you don’t necessarily have to have any thread painting experience! Every pattern goes over the basics and walks you step by step through completing the pattern.

These patterns are a bit more involved and may take more time to complete than other surface embroidery patterns. However, with a little bit of time and patience, you’ll be able to successfully complete one!
