Here’s a round up of some of the my favorite embroidery kits for beginners that you can learn how to embroider with. Why Choose An Embroidery Kit?

When you’re just starting to learn embroidery, you can certainly piece together supplies, tutorials, and designs to stitch. But a more convenient and accessible way to start your first embroidery project is by purchasing a kit.

Kits usually have everything you need to get started, such as an embroidery hoop, embroidery needle, fabric, floss, and a design with a pattern you can follow along with. The benefits are endless:

  • they make learning more fun
  • they allow you to learn how to apply stitches to a design
  • they give you an end goal to focus on, which will keep you encouraged while learning a new skill
  • there are usually descriptive, step by step stitching guides which will help prevent overwhelm
  • they provide you with basic materials you can test out to see how you like them

What To Look For In A Kit

A good beginner friendly kit will include detailed instructions for how to complete the pattern and how to do all of the different stitches required. It’s ideal to find patterns that utilize several different basic embroidery stitches, such as French knots, satin stitch, back stitch, and chain stitch.

It’s important to select a kit that contains high quality materials. Here’s what to look out for:

  • fabrics such as linen and cotton with the printed design
  • a plastic or wooden hoop
  • full skeins of DMC embroidery floss or another kind of high quality floss
  • include a good range of stitches for the design
  • contains an instruction booklet or digital instructions

Beginner Embroidery Kits

While all of these kits are for beginners, I have sorted the kits by perceived effort, complexity, and skill level. Some of the kits towards the bottom of this post will take longer and are recommended for a more confident beginner.

All of the products below have fantastic reviews that reflect how easy the patterns are to follow and are great for learning to embroider. They are all slightly different and reflect each embroidery artist’s particular style, which is always so fun!
