Quarter Cross Stitch Tutorial
Learn how to make a quarter cross stitch. This tutorial is a quick one because quarter cross stitches are simple and easy!

How To Make A Quarter Cross Stitch

A quarter cross stitch takes up 1/4th of a stitch in cross stitch. Think of a square in a cross stitch pattern as having four quadrants. In a chart, you will see a small square in one of these four quadrants indicating where in the square you should make the stitch.
Quarter stitches look a bit nicer when they are stitched on linen because you won’t have to stitch through the thread block, but it’s totally doable to make them on Aida fabric as well.

For Aida fabric, the stitch will start in the corner of a thread block through one of the holes and end in the middle of the thread block.

On linen, a quarter stitch is made across one warp and weft thread.
Short and sweet! Next, you may find this article helpful, as it will introduce you to some of the other fractional stitches you may encounter.
