The chain stitch is a decorative outline stitch in hand embroidery that resembles a chain. It’s a great fundamental embroidery stitch to learn and can really add some interesting texture to your next embroidery project.
How to Do a Chain Stitch In Hand Embroidery
Come up through the fabric with your needle and thread.
Then take your needle back down the first hole you came up through and up a little in front of that first stitch. Don’t pull the thread through just yet.
Wrap the thread around the tip of the needle.
This will form a loop once you pull the thread through.
Repeat this process until you’ve reached the desired length.
