This stitch is by far one of the most common stitches I use to add texture to any embroidery, so I would consider it a staple to learn. French knots can be a bit more of a challenge to get right starting out, but once you get the hang of it they’ll become second nature to stitch! So…keep reading to learn how to do a french knot!
French Knot Tutorial
Come up through the back of the fabric
Take the thread in your non-working hand and hold tension on it with your thumb and forefinger.
Twist the thread around your needle 1-3 times. (the more twists, the larger the knot)
Still holding tension, go back down through the fabric right next to where your thread came up through. Pull tight.
